The West Cummington to Cummington section of Westfield River - North Branch in Hampshire/Hampden County is 6.2 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Massachusetts you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Getting some good exercise
and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The put-in is not too far from Pittsfield, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for
that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the West Cummington to Cummington section is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip.
