The wonderful Massachusetts scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Pittsfield it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Westfield River - North Branch in Hampshire/Hampden County is 6.2 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty
of rivers for that. The average Massachusetts whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip.
