If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This section of Westfield River - West Branch is 7.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Chester to Huntington section is just one of them. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Westfield River - West Branch usually tend to be in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are commonly in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Westfield   River - West Branch. Chester-Blanford State Forest is a nice forest region close to Westfield River - West Branch, and why not head up to Blandford and strap some skis to your feet. Westfield River - West Branch gets a great deal of water; most of the rain falls through August, and January on the other hand is the driest.
