Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The campgrounds here at Bear River are pretty good. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come     because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling stretch along Bear River. The scenic beauty of Emmet County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
