This stretch of Big Garlic River in Michigan is 3.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. The average Michigan whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need
to bring snacks. The nature scenery of Marquette County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Big Garlic River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Goldmine Road to Cty 550 stretch is the only one. You might have to settle for a hotel
a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
