The wonderful Gogebic County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Black River have people coming here. The campgrounds here at Black River are pretty good. This section of Black River in Michigan is 2.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater paddling here in the Gogebic Range is a great experience. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This
is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier
than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
