Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout     and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The Gogebic Range scenery is wonderful. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The nature scenery of Michigan and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Good hiking is available along the Rainbow Falls Trail; Algonquin Falls is a pretty location to pop by while you're at Black River. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Black River with nighttime lows in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 10's with temperatures   at Black River dipping down into the-10's through winter nights. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Black River is a good location of normal precipitation; June is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February. The slopes of Big Powderhorn Mountain are so inviting nobody can resist, and Chippewa Falls is always fun to check out.
