This section of Carp River in Marquette County is 2.5 miles long and is a class III-V(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Marquette County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This     is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The put-in location is a short drive from Marquette, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Briefly about the general area: Carp River gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. High temperatures at Carp River all through the summer months   are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 20's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Carp River plunge into the 0's. Gotta ski!
