This section of Carp River is 1.7 miles long and has been rated as a class IV(V) section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The beautiful Gogebic     Range scenery is an added bonus. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The natural beauty of Ontonagon/Gogebic County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Carp River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the above Shining Cloud Falls to Lake Superior stretch is the only one. Briefly about the general area: Shining Cloud Falls is a pretty location to stop at while you're at Carp River; a short trip to Traders Falls is always worthwhile. That right there is lots of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Gogebic Range has it all. The annual rain here at Carp River is about average; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with   the least moisture. During the days of summer highs here at Carp River reach the 70's while night lows are commonly in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are ordinarily in the 10's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Carp River descend into the-10's.
