If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're coming from Marquette it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Chocolay River in Michigan
is 2.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II(III) section of whitewater. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are no other sections to paddle along
Chocolay River than the Highway 41 to Cty Road BH section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The nature scenery of Michigan and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
