  The average Michigan whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The starting point is not too far from Houghton, as you can see on the road map further down. The Phoenix to Eagle River Falls section of Eagle River in Keweenaw County is 2.3 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV(V) section by American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of
    paddling spots. The beautiful scenery of Keweenaw County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are no other stretches to paddle along Eagle River than the Phoenix to Eagle River Falls stretch. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks.

A pleasant place close to Eagle River is Eagle River Shoals. An average amount of precipitation falls at Eagle River; most of the snow falls during January, and the driest of the months is April.
