The scenic beauty of Keweenaw County and the cool fresh water beats anything. If you're coming from Houghton it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes.     This is the only paddling stretch along Eagle River. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
