The nature scenery of Marquette County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The average Michigan whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit
easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. This section of Escanaba River in Michigan is 19 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
