This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Cataract Basin Dam to powerhouse section is just one of them. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is an extremely short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The put-in is not too     far from Marquette, as you can see on the road map further down. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Michigan are often more forgiving than in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners.
