The Greenstone Falls trail to Lake Superior stretch of Little Carp River in Ontonagon/Gogebic County is 5.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The nearby hotels     are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The beautiful Gogebic Range scenery is an added bonus. The Greenstone Falls trail to Lake Superior stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Briefly about the general area: From a precipitation point of view Little Carp River is a relatively common spot; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. For   the period of the summer, highs regularly are in the 70's at Little Carp River, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 10's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Little Carp River temperatures fall to the-10's.
