The natural beauty of Ontonagon County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Nonesuch Falls to Highway 107 section of Little Iron River in Ontonagon County is 7.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III(IV) section. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Nonesuch Falls to Highway 107 section is one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of
people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Gogebic Range scenery is wonderful.
The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Michigan are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that.
