If you're coming from Iron Mountain it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Michigamme River in Michigan is 2.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over     and over. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The nature scenery of Marquette County and the cool fresh water beats anything. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come.
