This stretch of Ontonagon River East Branch in Michigan is 7.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Michigan and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The beautiful Gogebic Range scenery is an added bonus. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to
drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the East Branch Road to Highway 45 section is just one of them. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Michigan you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere.
