This stretch of Planter Creek in Michigan is 1.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. Planter Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Highway 28 to Wirtanen Road stretch is the only one. Whitewater paddling here in the Gogebic Range is a great experience. This is an extremely short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to     master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Through the summer highs here at Planter Creek get into the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 10's; after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Planter Creek sink into the-10's. Planter   Creek gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
