The Highway 28 to Wirtanen Road section of Planter Creek in Michigan is 1.1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if     you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is an extremely short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The Highway 28 to Wirtanen Road section is the only paddling section along Planter Creek. The Gogebic Range scenery is wonderful. The nature scenery of Gogebic County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here.
