Michigan whitewater - Presque Isle, Gogebic Range, Gogebic County Gogebic county, Yondota Falls to Copps Mine Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV(V)     1.5 miles   This stretch of Presque Isle in Michigan is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V) section. The natural beauty of Michigan and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you've been whitewater     rafting and kayaking outside Michigan you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Yondota Falls to Copps Mine Road section is just one of them. The Gogebic Range scenery is wonderful. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Presque Isle.
