The natural beauty of Michigan and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. When     you're paddling down a Gogebic Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. The campgrounds here at Presque Isle are pretty good. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm days of summer highs here at Presque Isle reach the 70's. Summer night lows drop down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Presque Isle plunge into the-10's.   A short tour to Yondota Falls is always worthwhile. An average amount of rainfall falls at Presque Isle; most of the rain falls all through August, and February is the month with the least moisture.
