  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. If you're coming from Houghton it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is the only paddling section along Rock River. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The wonderful Michigan scenery and the sparkling of
    the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The Worm Lake outlet to Sturgeon River stretch of Rock River in Baraga County is 5 miles long and is a class II-III+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
this is an area with plenty of places for that. There's camping available near Rock River.

Briefly about the general area:
Throughout the summer highs here at Rock River reach the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Rock River.
