Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The wonderful Michigan scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The starting location     is a short drive from Marquette, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. This is the only paddling section along Salmon Trout River. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
