  The starting location is a reasonable drive from Houghton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Silver River in Baraga County is 2.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot
    of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make
reservations in advance you're all set. The nature scenery of Michigan and the water flowing gracefully down Silver River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.
