The Highway 41 to Upper Falls section of Sturgeon River is 1.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Houghton, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of Baraga County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are so many sections to paddle in this
river system, the Highway 41 to Upper Falls section is just one of many. This is an extremely short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area
has a large number of paddling spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There's camping available near Sturgeon River.
