The Trowbridge Road to Indian River stretch of Sturgeon River is 16 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The scenic beauty of Cheboygan County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling
places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels
fill up quick. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Sturgeon River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Trowbridge Road to Indian River stretch is the only one.
