Michigan whitewater - Sturgeon River, Cheboygan County Cheboygan county, Trowbridge Road to Indian River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     16 miles   This section of Sturgeon River is 16 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. This is the only paddling stretch along Sturgeon River. Whitewater     rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Sturgeon River gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; all through the month of September you get the most rain around here; February is when it's the driest. Throughout the summertime, highs commonly are in the 70's at Sturgeon River, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
