This stretch of Sturgeon River in Michigan is 1.7 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. There are no other stretches to paddle along Sturgeon River than the Sturgeon Dam stretch. Briefly about the general area: During the summertime highs here at Sturgeon River get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's; night lows throughout the winter for Sturgeon River tend to be in the 0's.
