The wonderful Ontonagon County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Union River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Union River cabin to campground stretch is the only paddling stretch along Union River. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great     attractions for lots of people. There's camping available near Union River. This is an extremely short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The wild scenery of the Gogebic Range is great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Michigan are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: A common amount of precipitation falls here at Union River; most of the rain falls through August; February meanwhile is the driest month. At Union River during the days of summer highs are in the 70's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the   50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's, and overnight lows at Union River during the wintertime frequently descend into the-10's. Man, is there heaps of cool stuff to do in the Gogebic Range. You have to check out Union Bay when you're here at Union River; Porcupine Mountain is a very popular ski area close by.
