If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. There are     no other stretches to paddle along Union River than the Union River cabin to campground stretch. The river winds through the Gogebic Range and you get great scenery. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is very short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Union River you must have a look at Union Bay, and skiing at Porcupine Mountain is one of those things you just have to do. High temperatures at Union River throughout the summertime months are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures   descend down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 10's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Union River temperatures drop to the-10's. Man, is there a load of enjoyable things to do in the Gogebic Range. A normal amount of rain falls here at Union River; the month with most of the rain is August, and February on the other hand is the driest.
