The natural beauty of Marquette County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of Yellow Dog River is 8.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III(V+) section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Mulligan Truck Trail to CR510 section     is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners.
