If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Minnesota you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Finland to Eckbeck campground section of Baptism River is 5.2 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III(IV) section by American Whitewater. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there     are a few others too. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The campgrounds here at Baptism River are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: At Baptism River through the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's; during the dark hours in the winter at Baptism River temperatures sink to the-10's. Going for a hike on the Moosewalk Snowmobile Trail is always a tremendous adventure.   Baptism River gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; through the month of June you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest.
