  The average Minnesota whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The starting point is not too far from Brainerd, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your
    camp stove too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the CR229 to Little American Falls section is one of them. Since you're on this site you are probably into
whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The nature scenery of Minnesota and the water flowing gracefully down Big Fork attract people from near and far. This stretch  
of Big Fork in Minnesota is 14 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II(IV) section.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Big Fork you locate the Cutfoot Sioux Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail, and a short spree to Muldoon Rapids is always worthwhile. Big Fork is a site with many visitors from Effie; Scenic State Park is a great place to stop by on a pretty day. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Through the summertime months here at Big Fork, high temperatures usually reach the 70's with night lows in the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are typically in the 10's, and overnight lows in the-20's for Big Fork.
