The Cty 3 to Gooseberry Falls State Park stretch of Gooseberry River in Lake County is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here     in Minnesota are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Cty 3 to Gooseberry Falls State Park stretch is the only paddling stretch along Gooseberry River. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: From a rainfall point of view Gooseberry River is a relatively common spot; June is when you get the most rain here while February is generally the driest month. Don't leave Gooseberry River without first checking out Nester Bluffs. At Gooseberry River during the summertime highs are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's.
