  This section of Gooseberry River is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The natural beauty of Lake County and the water flowing gracefully down Gooseberry River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Minnesota whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Gooseberry River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the
    Cty 3 to Gooseberry Falls State Park section is the only one. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this
is an area with plenty of rivers for that.

Briefly about the general area:
Gooseberry River gets a common amount of annual rainfall; June is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the summertime months at Gooseberry River highs are typically in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 20's; nighttime lows in the 0's for Gooseberry River.
