  This stretch of Kettle River in Minnesota is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III(IV) section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Minnesota are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're
    all set. The Banning State Park to Sandstone stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other spots.
This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Kettle River without first paying a visit to Hells Gate Rapids It's always tremendous to check out Wolf Creek Falls. Summertime highs at Kettle River frequently tend to be in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Kettle River are in the-10's.
From a rainfall point of view Kettle River is a rather normal spot; during the month of June you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture.
