  The wonderful Minnesota scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The average Minnesota whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good spots for that around here. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch of Kettle
    River in Pine County is 5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The below Big Eddy to St. Croix River stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and
if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
A wooded neighborhood in the vicinity of Kettle River is Chengwatana State Forest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Kettle River with overnight lows in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Kettle River.
From a rain point of view Kettle River is a pretty typical location; all through the month of June you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest.
