Minnesota whitewater - Knife River, Lake/St. Louis County Lake/St. Louis county, Cty 102 to Lake Superior section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III(IV)     5.5 miles   If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Minnesota you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Knife River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Cty 102 to Lake Superior section is the only one. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The nature scenery of Minnesota and     the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The Cty 102 to Lake Superior section of Knife River is 5.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(IV) section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Knife River gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. Through the summertime highs here at Knife River get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs   down to the 10's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Knife River. Granite Point is in close proximity and always great to stop by.
