The Highway 61 to Thomson Reservoir stretch of Midway River in Scanlon County is 4 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Scanlon County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't     forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
