The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Minnesota are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This section is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many     other places for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is the only paddling section along Mississippi River. The starting location is a short drive from St. Cloud, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Sauk Rapids stretch of Mississippi River in Stearns County is 0.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II(III) section. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Mississippi River with nighttime lows in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Mississippi River are in the-10's.
