Says nicole ... ullneverno If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Minnesota you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Cross Lake to confluence with St. Croix River. section is one of them. There's camping available near Snake River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river,     but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section of Snake River in Pine County is 12 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Pine County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Briefly about the general area: Through the days of summer at Snake River temperatures are generally in the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's with temperatures at Snake River dipping down into the-10's through winter nights.
