The beautiful scenery of Chisago County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of St. Croix River in Minnesota is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Minnesota are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature
are great reasons to come. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. St. Croix
River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Taylor's Falls section is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 70's to St. Croix River. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at St. Croix River. From a rain point of view St. Croix River is a quite common site; June is the wettest month with most rain while February is regularly the driest month.
