Minnesota whitewater - Vermilion River, St. Louis County
St. Louis
county,
FS491 to CR24 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-IV 4 miles
The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The nature scenery of Minnesota and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are some good
sections to paddle in this river system, the FS491 to CR24 section is one of them. The FS491 to CR24 stretch of Vermilion River is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers.
