This stretch of Vermilion River in St. Louis County is 4 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The FS491 to CR24 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. And of course,     there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that.
