Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The South of Jackson stretch is the only paddling stretch along Okatoma Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: Okatoma Creek is a wet spot that gets a lot of precipitation; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is mostly the driest month. Throughout the summer
at Okatoma Creek highs are commonly in the 90's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. Highs throughout the wintertime are regularly in the 50's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Okatoma Creek temperatures plunge to the 30's.
