Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The wonderful Missouri scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Big River beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Big River is 73 miles long and it is classified as a class I section
by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The From Highway 67 section is the only paddling section along Big River. There's camping available near Big River.
Briefly about the general area:
Big River sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is September, and May is when it's the driest. Summertime highs at Big River ordinarily tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 70's. During the winter the highs are usually in the 80's while the cold winter nights at Big River are in the 70's.
