The starting location is a short drive from Poplar Bluff, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Black River in Missouri is 37.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I section of whitewater. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you
might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. A bit of exercise and
spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The river winds through the Ozarks and you get great scenery. This is the only paddling stretch along Black River. The natural beauty of Wayne Butler County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
