If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Kansas City, there's a
road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Jackson County scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make
reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The campgrounds here at Blue River are pretty good. This section of Blue River is 4.4 miles long and is a class I(II) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is the only paddling stretch along Blue River. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large
number of other places.
