This section of Blue River in Missouri is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class I(II) section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Kansas City, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting some good
exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere,
so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful scenery of Jackson County and the water flowing gracefully down Blue River beats anything. Blue River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Blue Ridge Road to Red Bridge Road stretch is the only one. There's camping available near Blue River.

summer, highs frequently are in the 90's at Blue River. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are usually in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Blue River drop into the 10's. Blue River gets a typical
