If you're coming from Farmington it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Missouri and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Throughout the winter the highs are typically in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Carver Creek. Carver Creek is a pretty wet place usually with a large amount of precipitation; through the month of March you get the most rain around here; January is the month with the least moisture.
