This stretch of Castor River in Madison County is 1.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. The beautiful Ozarks scenery is an added bonus. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Missouri tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors
    are great attractions for lots of people. This is an extremely short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The CR 253 to CR 208 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Castor River. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site
you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The scenic beauty of Missouri and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile.

While you're here at Castor River you can take a hike along the John J Audubon Trail. Through the long summer days highs here at Castor River reach the 80's, and through
 
summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Castor River through the wintertime mostly drop into the 10's.
Castor River gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; during March this area sees the most rain while January is commonly the driest month.
