Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Missouri is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Highway 72 to St. Francis River section of Little St. Francis River in Madison County is 15 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I section. The nature scenery of Madison County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good
rivers for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming
from far and near. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a short drive from Farmington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Highway 72 to St. Francis River section is one of them. Whitewater paddling here in the Ozarks is a great experience.
