Missouri whitewater - Lower Rock Creek, Ozarks, Madison County Madison county, Barren Hollow to Highway E section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV     3 miles   Been here and there is not a good put-in site for a boat.  The creek is one mile from where you can park a car unless it's right next to the St Francis river and that means you won't be kayaking down this creek.  Which is impossible unless there is serious rainfall. Says Chef If you're coming from Farmington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Lower Rock Creek in Madison County is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class     IV section. The Ozarks scenery is wonderful. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nature scenery of Madison County and the water flowing gracefully down Lower Rock Creek will make you feel great. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. This is the only paddling section along Lower Rock Creek. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Missouri you might find the rivers   here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Silver Mine Trail, and the Smith Mountains is one of the things that make Lower Rock Creek so pleasant. Now, you may assume that's a lot but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Ozarks. While staying at Lower Rock Creek you could always explore Jordan Hollow. From a rainfall point of view Lower Rock Creek is a pretty common place; through March this area sees the most rain; January is when it's the driest. Throughout the warmest time of the year at Lower Rock Creek highs are generally in the 80's. Summer night lows plunge down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Lower Rock Creek are in the 20's.
