The Short Bend to Highway 231 stretch of Meramec River in Missouri is 192 miles long and has been rated as a class I section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Dent Crawford Phelps Franklin Jefferson St. Louis County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Short Bend to Highway 231 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Meramec River. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great |
campgrounds nearby. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so it looks like you will be camping out. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near.

| a wet place that gets lots of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is commonly September, that's the one that rains the most; May on the other hand is the driest. Throughout the summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Meramec River. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 70's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 80's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Meramec River dip into the 70's.
