Missouri whitewater, Meramec River

Dent Crawford Phelps Franklin Jefferson St. Louis county, Short Bend to Highway 231 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I     192 miles
This section of Meramec River is 192 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I section. The natural beauty of Missouri and the water flowing gracefully down Meramec River beats anything. The beauty of the Ozarks is a great plus for this river. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Not
too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you've been whitewater rafting and
kayaking outside Missouri you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. The Short Bend to Highway 231 section is the only paddling section along Meramec River.
