The Short Bend to Highway 231 stretch of Meramec River in Missouri is 192 miles long and is a class I section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: Meramec River is a pretty wet place generally with lots of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is usually September, that's the one that rains the most, and May is the month with the least moisture. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Meramec River. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 70's. Through the winter highs are in the 80's with temperatures at Meramec River dipping down into the 70's through winter nights.
