The starting location is a reasonable drive from St. Louis, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Riverview Drive North St. Louis stretch of Mississippi River is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is     a very short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is the only paddling stretch along Mississippi River. Briefly about the general area: A trip to Chain of Rocks will fill your spirit with fine feelings. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Mississippi River; most of the rain falls through May; the driest month of the year is January. Throughout the warmest time of the year highs here at Mississippi River get into the 80's while night lows are frequently in the 60's.
