Missouri whitewater - Mud Creek, Ozarks, Madison County Madison county, Highway D to St. Francis River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV+     1.4 miles   This stretch of Mud Creek in Missouri is 1.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV+ section of whitewater. The wonderful Missouri scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive     a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The river winds through the Ozarks and you get great scenery. This is a very short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Highway D to St. Francis River section is the only paddling section along Mud Creek. If you're coming from Farmington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Briefly about the general area: Nearby Mud Creek Shut-in is a wonderful place to go if you're at Mud Creek, and a range like the Smith Mountains is always   stunning. Mud Creek is a good location of typical rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. Through the warm days of summer at Mud Creek highs are ordinarily in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Mud Creek. And that's not everything you can do here in the Ozarks.
