If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The natural beauty of Madison County and the cool fresh water beats anything. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from     the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beauty of the Ozarks is a great plus for this river. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The starting point is not too far from Farmington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Mud Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Highway D to St. Francis River stretch is the only one. Briefly about the general area: Mud Creek gets a common amount of rain; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while January is the month with the least   amount of precipitation. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! The Ozarks is great! Mud Creek is right by the Silver Mine Trail. At Mud Creek during the summer highs are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Mud Creek fall into the 20's. A great location in the vicinity of Mud Creek is Mud Creek Shut-in, and a range like the Smith Mountains is always picturesque.
