Missouri whitewater - North River, Marion County Marion county, Mo. County Road 530 to Highway 61 bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I(II)     17 miles   This stretch of North River is 17 miles long and has been rated as a class I(II) section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Missouri and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Missouri are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. North River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Mo. County Road 530 to Highway 61 bridge section is the only one. Getting     your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a short drive from Hannibal, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. Briefly about the general area: At North River you always meet someone from Hannibal. A normal amount of precipitation falls here at North River; during the   month of July you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at North River ordinarily tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's.
