Missouri whitewater - Pickle Creek, Ozarks, Ste. Genevieve County

Ste. Genevieve county, Hawn State Park Road to Hawn State Park picnic area section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     2.4 miles
The wonderful Missouri scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Missouri whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The Hawn State Park Road to Hawn State Park picnic area section of Pickle Creek is 2.4 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is the only paddling section along Pickle Creek. The wild scenery
of the Ozarks is great. The put-in location is a short drive from Farmington, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This section is quite short so you'd
better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There's camping available near Pickle Creek.

Briefly about the general area:
An average amount of rainfall falls at Pickle Creek; May is when you get the most rain here, and
